Start here: restart your equipment

  1. Unplug the power adapter for the modem/power supply, then unplug your router. Wait two minutes.
  2. Plug both back in. Wait for the lights to settle: a steady light on the modem and the router’s power light.
  3. Wait another 30 seconds, then try again.

Still not working? Test without the router

Connect one device with an Ethernet port directly to the modem/power supply. If the internet works, plug the router back in and try again. If it still fails, the router may need to be reset and set up again.

Check the cables

Make sure the network cables are firmly attached to your modem/power supply and router at both ends, and that none are damaged. This includes the connection to the outdoor antenna and the cables between the modem, router and computer. Things get pulled or simply break.

Check your device

WindowsClick the network icon in the taskbar (you may need to click the small arrow by the clock). Look for "Connected". Open Network and Sharing Center (Windows 7) or run Troubleshoot problems if the diagram shows a break between your computer and the internet.
MacOpen Network in System Settings (or System Preferences) and check that Ethernet or Wi-Fi shows "Connected". If not, use Assist Me then Diagnostics.
iPhone, iPad or AndroidMake sure Wi-Fi (or cellular) is on, Airplane mode is off, and Do Not Disturb is off.
